I study how AI systems in online social interactions shape mental health and how we can build them more responsibly. My work sits at the intersection of HCI, applied AI, and AI safety. I focus on high-stakes domains like destructive behaviors and crisis and longitudinal harms of AI on mental health.
My group works on two areas: (1) how social media algorithms affect mental health, and how we can improve them; and (2) LLM-powered chatbots and user mental health, cognitive capacity, and well-being.
